Recycling clothes and helping charity with Fashion Favours

Gordon Brown and fashion are not two words that fit together normally, and neither should they, I want my Prime Minister to worry about what’s going on on the political scene rather than the catwalk!  However Gordon and Sarah Brown have donated their outfits that they were wearing for his speech at the Labour Party Conference to a charity auction.  Gordons shirt and tie and Sarahs dress were donated to Fashion Favours, launched by vinspired.com and Ben De Lisi.  The idea is to get volunteers between the age of 16 and 25 to give some of their time to recycle clothes into new items at fashion workshops run by top designers. It’s a really great idea that helps to show that volunteering can be fun, useful and easy as well as something you can be genuinely interested in.  There will be a fashion show in December with key pieces being highlighted as well as appearing in Debenhams window displays and all items will be autioned off to raise funds for charity.  The project also highlights the fact that fashion can be re-used rather than being thrown away and should hopefully encourage people to recylce their clothes which is very useful when the credit crunch is starting to bite!
